India: Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme

The Ministry of New Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a call for proposals for Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme (Re-Rtd-2022).
The programme will strengthen research and innovation capacity of the country and will be implemented in accordance with the policy and guidelines issued from time to time and thrust areas identified by MNRE of the country and will be implemented in accordance with the policy and guidelines issued from time to time and thrust areas identified by MNRE.
Objectives
The objective of the scheme is to support R&D projects for technology development and demonstration in various areas of new and renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic systems, biogas systems, waste to energy systems, wind energy systems, hybrid systems, storage systems, hydrogen and fuels cells, geothermal energy etc. with the ultimate aim of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix in the country.

The Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme for implementation during the period 2021- 22 to 2025-26 at a total cost of Rs 228.00 Crore.
Eligibility Criteria
- R & D / Academic Institutions including Engineering Colleges (both Public & Private duly accredited by Government bodies),
- Public/Private Industries,
- Societies registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860,
- Trusts registered under the Indian Trusts Act 1882,
- NGOs,
- Start Ups duly recognized by Department for Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and
- Organizations engaged in Research & Development for promotion of new & renewable energy.

The Japan Water Forum Fund 2022 – Apply Now!

The Japan Water Forum (JWF) is accepting applications for its JWF Fund that aims to contribute for solving local water-related issues in developing countries by assisting the implementation of sustainable solutions led by grass-roots organizations.
Themes
A project which is planned and will faithfully be implemented along the following themes will be considered.
- Construction/repair of the water supply resource such as well and reservoir.
- Installation of small scale type water supply system.
- Construction/repair of sanitation and hygiene facility.
- Maintenance/improvement of water resource environment.
- Installation/promotion of water efficiency irrigation system.
- Implementation of water-related disaster risk reduction/mitigation program.
Note: It is advisable that the project includes awareness-raising programs/training programs for capacity building to enhance sustainability of the project.
Funding Information
- Up to US$1,500 per a selected project.
- In the JWF Fund 2022, the number of projects which will be accepted is around five.
- One application/project from one group can be acceptable. No application shall be accepted if one group submits two or more applications/projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Any local grassroots organizations that work in countries/territories classified as Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Low Income Countries (LICs), Lower Middle Income Countries (LMICs) from among the OECD’s DAC list can apply for the JWF Fund.
Ineligible
National governments, local governments, private companies, funding institutions, international organizations and religious groups cannot apply for the fund.

Open Call for Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE) Campaign in India

The NITI Aayog (Behavioural Insights Unit) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), in partnership with the United Nations, World Resources Institute, Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC) and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), are inviting ideas from across the world for one of the following areas:
- Behaviour-change solutions aimed at individuals, households and communities to drive climate-friendly behaviors in sectors, including:
- Transportation
- food
- Electricity
- recycle
- Reuse
Innovative solutions that promote wider adoption of traditional, climate-friendly practices and/or create livelihood options for communities that may lose their jobs with a shift towards climate-friendly production.
International, national and/or local best practices that can be feasibly scaled-up for driving behavior change related to climate action.
Approach of Life Campaign
- Focus on Individual Behaviours: Make life a mass movement (Jan Andolan) by focusing on behaviors and attitudes of individuals and communities
- Co-create Globally: Crowdsource empirical and scalable ideas from the best minds of the world, through top universities, think tanks and international organizations
- Leverage Local Cultures: Leverage climate-friendly social norms, beliefs and daily household practices of different cultures worldwide to drive the campaign
Benefits
Authors of the top 5 ideas will each be awarded with:
- Ambassador fot LiFE Award at COP 27, hosted by UNFCC.
- USD 25,000, to test and pilot their ideas(s) in India.
- Opportunity to in person at the global LiFE Conference in India
- End to End implementation support from NITI Aayog and MoEFCC to scale ideas
The award(s) given to the eligible winners are not transferable, redeemable for cash or exchangeable for any other award. If the award cannot be given for any reason, organizing team reserves the right to substitute that award with another award in its sole discretion.

Participants are strongly encouraged to submit empirically informed and measurable ideas that can offer implementable solutions while having the potential to be published in reputed academic journals.

Grants to implement Artistic Projects in India

The India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is seeking proposals from artists to implement artistic projects in government schools in Karnataka.
Teaching is an attempt to make learning a learning activity in schools, as well as the adoption of an art medium by teachers. The desire to bring a student-centered learning system through creative efforts and syllabus combined efforts to build a special relationship with outsiders crossing the schoolroom through story, song, drama, painting and any local art forms.
The IFAU is soliciting project proposals. These projects, which complement the school curriculum, must provide a solid foundation for integrated curriculum. It is desirable to state clearly in their proposal art-based assignments that encourage students’ creativity and research quality. The Teach for Education (NEP) National Education Policy is also based on the 2020 objectives.

- The project should specialize in any art other than theater, music, folklore, visual arts, photography, film and literature to promote student-centered learning.
- Project to raise social justice and environmental awareness.
- The project should be able to assert the enduring possibilities of art inclusive learning, in these later days of the corona epidemic.
Funding Information
- Maximum Rs. Up to Rs. 2,00,000 / –
- Applicants can consider a maximum of 5% honoraria in their entire budget.
- Cost-of-expense accounting includes respectability.
Duration: The expected duration of the project should be at least nine months and maximum of 2 months.
Eligibility Criteria
India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) implements Projects under its various programmes. The criteria for eligibility to apply under these programmes are as follows:
- Only Indian nationals can apply. This does not include PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) Card Holders.
- Applicants must have PAN card and one of the following for proof of identity and citizenship – Indian Passport or Aadhar Card or Voter’s ID in India
- Only individuals can apply. Organisations of any kind cannot apply
- If there are collaborators in the projects, they must also be Indian nationals
- Persons who have a past history of financial delinquency with IFA are not eligible
- Persons who have failed to deposit at IFA agreed deliverables from an earlier IFA grant are not eligible
- Persons who have previously received a letter from IFA disallowing them from applying in the future for any reason are not eligible
- More than one individual can apply if they have a joint account. If they do not, then only one among them should apply with the others as collaborators
